Adult Volunteer Team

TramShed Theatre Company

We believe that a placement for a volunteer within our Company is a valuable opportunity to build experience while learning about working within an inclusive theatre setting. Equally, we appreciate the positive contribution that such committed and enthusiastic people can bring to our Company and members.

The role of the volunteer at TramShed is to support children, young people and adults 1:1 and in small groups in an inclusive theatre workshop setting, backstage and on stage during performances. This opportunity is for any individual aged 15+ years.

Anyone over the age of 18 years must complete an enhanced DBS check (Disclosure Barring Service), before they begin placement in the Company. All volunteers are required to attend mandatory inclusive training monthly. 

What skills do I need?

All of the following skills are essential:

  • Being able to work as part of a team. 
  • Be enthusiastic and bring energy to activities. 
  • Be able to work with individuals of all ages, including children from the age of 4 years upwards.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality. 
  • Be a good communicator. 
  • Be friendly and approachable. 
  • Work inclusively.

All of the following skills are desirable:

  • Experience of performing arts and performance. 
  • Experience of working with individuals who are living with need.
  • Experience of Makaton and/or British Sign Language.
  • Experience of safeguarding.

Volunteer opportunities are available in the following groups: Youth Theatre - 6.45pm-8pm (Mondays) Young Adult Company - 6pm-7.15pm (Tuesdays) Adult Company - 7.30pm-8.45pm (Tuesdays) Inclusive Volunteer Training - 5.30pm-7.30pm (Wednesdays - Monthly - Mandatory) All volunteers aged 15+ years.
