We specialise in community focused substance use and sexual health services. We specialise in supporting individuals to reduce harm, we offer specialist support and we aim to move people forward in their lives by means of empowerment.

If you want to make a real difference to people's lives by assisting them to find a way forward with their problems, this is the role for you.

Many clients at Renaissance require benefit support or advice whether that be PIP claims, UC claims, Carers Allowance, or general advice and information.

Volunteering is flexible at Renaissance so if you can give only an hour per week that is ok!

Previous advisor experience is necessary

Key tasks include:

• Support clients with benefit advice, PIP claims, Universal Credit claims among others.
• Keep all information given or discussed within the service confidential.
• Attend relevant training sessions .
• Demonstrate the organisations values and principals in your actions and behaviours.

What skills do I need?

Key skills required:

Friendly and polite

Non-judgmental

A full understanding of client confidentiality

Listening skills

Emotionally mature

Reliable and trustworthy

Understanding of, or ability to learn, personal and professional boundaries

Ability to take direction

Awareness of personal and professional boundaries

Basic IT skills

Previous experience as a benefit advisor
