Catering Service Volunteer

We are seeking volunteers to support our catering team and residents by assisting in the kitchen to prepare meals and also to serve  meals in the bistro or dining area . An important part of this role is chatting to and befriending residents, encouraging a pleasant social atmosphere in the bistros and dining rooms. 

The tasks may include;

• Supporting the catering team to prepare the meals
• Serving meals and drinks to residents in the bistro or dining area
• Delivering meals to residents rooms where needed
• Helping residents, chatting and providing a friendly customer service to them during their meal times.
• Helping to clear away and clean the kitchen and dining area after food service.

What skills do I need?

• Basic food preparation skills
• Good communication skills
• Flexibility
• To be mindful of infection control and good hygiene at all times
• An understanding of the needs of older people and comfortable in a care home environment
• Reliable and punctual

When do I need to be available?

Opportunities are available Monday to Friday 9.30am- 2pm from as little as 4.5 hours a week.
