Volunteer at weekly soup kitchen

Comfort C.A.F.E.

The Comfort Café offers a free sit down meal every Tuesday morning, to those in need.

We are looking for volunteers over the age of 18, who are reasonably fit (because the work is physical) and are available on Tuesdays from 9.15am until we have cleared away, usually 1:15pm.

The work will involve some of the following:

  • helping to set up inside the hall
  • taking the plated meals to the tables
  • clearing and cleaning the tables/dishes between sittings
  • talking to the clients
  • putting away tables and chairs
  • clearing and cleaning the premises when we finish

We ask for a good standard of personal hygiene please due to food handling and smoking is not allowed.

Prospective volunteers will be invited to visit one Tuesday morning to see if it is suitable. They will be given an essential Volunteer Handbook to read, and a request for contact details for two, non-family character references, plus proof of identity and address.

This will be followed by an informal chat with a trustee.

You will be asked to sign a volunteer agreement.
