Garden Volunteer

ROC Redeeming our Communities

ROC (Redeeming Our Communities) are offering an exciting opportunity for local Blackpool residents to become a 'ROC Garden Volunteer' and make a visible difference in their local community.

This opportunity is available to people of all different skill levels and with no previous experience needed. All training is delivered on-the-job.

By volunteering in this role you will be actively supporting local communities by improving under-used green spaces, developing community garden areas, and/or tackling overgrown gardens around the town where residents have been identified as needing support in bringing their gardens back down to a manageable level.

By getting involved you will learn new skills in many different types of garden maintenance, from growing plants/veg, to learning and gaining experience in how to use a full range of petrol power tools including mowers, hedge cutters, etc. as well as a wide range of other gardening tools and equipment.

You will work as part of a team and will grow and develop your interpersonal, teaming working and leadership skills, while making new friends, creating a strong sense of community, having lots of fun, telling bad jokes and problem solving together to make the community a safer and kinder place for everyone. We hope that, through your involvement, more people from local areas would want to get involved in our project and would create ownership for themselves too.

By being a ROC Garden Volunteer you will be active outdoors, improving your personal fitness levels and will gain a great sense of health and well-being by completing transformational work on people's gardens and community green spaces.
