Independent Visitor

Blackpool Council Volunteers Team

An Independent Visitor is an adult volunteer who is matched with one of Our Children within Blackpool. The match is made through mutual likes and interests which are gathered through getting to know them.

The Independent Visitor and young person would get to spend time together, get to know each other and have fun. They can explore mutual interests, learn new skills and build on trust and confidence. The Independent Visitor can act as a mentor, in supporting the young person to make positive choices and be a comfort through good times and bad. The hope is that the Independent Visitor is a constant figure in the young person's life whether they move home, change support team or go through other changes.

An Independent Visitor doesn't have to go and see the young person, they want to go and see them!
