Infant Feeding Stay and Play session volunteer

HENRY Blackpool

HENRY Blackpool supports parents with all aspects of infant feeding. We have a team of qualified infant feeding practitioners who run regular drop-in groups and workshops for parents alongside 1:1 support in the hospital, at home and via our helpline.

HENRY volunteers play a key role in our HENRY Bears setting, ensuring families feel safe and comfortable. As a volunteer you will:

  • Provide a warm welcome to all families by chatting, introducing parents to each other and making all group members feel comfortable.
  • Support parents with older children eg. offering healthy drinks or snacks, joining in with activities.
  • Offer a listening ear that is non-judgemental.
  • Respond to parents with empathy, tuning in to how life is with the family.
  • Notice when parents need the support of the Infant Feeding Practitioner and introduce them to the Practitioner.
  • HENRY volunteer responsibilities do not include providing professional advice to families

What skills do I need?

  • Are you interested in supporting families with babies and young children in your community?
  • Do you have experience of parenting or working with young children?
  • Do you enjoy chatting and having conversations with people from all walks of life?
  • Are you empathic and non-judgemental?
  • If you can offer at least 2 hours a week to volunteer, and can attend 3 training sessions, we would love you to get in touch.

When do I need to be available?

Morning Afternoon Evening

HENRY currently offers 2 Infant Feeding Stay and Play sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, both running 1.00-2.30. Volunteers would be required between 12.45-2.45 to assist with setting up and packing away of the group.
