Lytham Heritage Group
Stewards act as the main liaison to welcome visitors to Lytham Windmill and Old Lifeboat House, which are open on a seasonal basis.
The steward’s tasks are not onerous, they include:
Being punctual for their rota slot of 3 hours.
Greeting all visitors and welcoming them to look around.
Engaging with visitors, when possible answering questions about the exhibits and local history, (such information will be picked up with experience).
Suggesting they put comments in the Visitors’ Book and if they are local asking if they would be interested in joining the Group. Membership forms are available to hand out as required.
Using the counter to count each visitor and then entering the total number at the end of the shift onto the rota sheet, and then restore counter to zero.
Taking money (cash or by card using our machine) for the cards, books and small items that are displayed for sale. Logging all sales in the Sales Book
Taking messages from visitors or telephone calls.
If you like the idea of stewarding at these historic venues then we can arrange a time when you can come in and sit with an existing steward and find out what goes on.
