Meet and Greet Volunteer

People visit Winstone House drug and alcohol services for many reasons, and for whatever reason this is, it is important that all of our clients and visitors are made to feel welcome and are directed as efficiently as possible to whom they have come to see, or to the service(s) they wish to access. all. The meeter and greeter role is vital in having an open door policy at Winstone House as first point of contact you will ensure that front door enquiries are dealt with in a professional and kindly manner, staff and visitors are welcomed into a safe environment and that everyone entering the building is signed in.

A comprehensive induction and training programme will be offered so all volunteers feel confident and prepared.

Key tasks include:

  • Meet and greet clients and visitors at reception desk providing a friendly and polite welcome.
  • Check in clients using the case management system.
  • Ensure all staff, clients and visitors to the building are signed in.
  • Be aware of all the staff, services, meetings and groups that are accessible on the day.
  • Direct clients and visitors to their appropriate appointment or destination.
  • Provide knowledgeable information about the service when required, this may include brief interventions such as harm reduction advice and signposting.
  • Answer general enquiries about the service.
  • Refer enquirers to appropriate members of staff if they need further help such as the duty worker.
  • Actively lookout for anyone who may be lost or may need help.
  • Use your initiative and ensure clients and visitors are reassured if anything is wrong.
  • Report any untoward incidents.
  • Keep all information given or discussed within the service confidential.
  • Attend relevant training sessions .
  • Demonstrate the organisations values and principals in your actions and behaviours.
  • Understand risk assessments and check the alert system to ensure clients and visitors who attend Winstone House.
  • Attend the daily flash meeting.

  • Experience within the substance misuse environment or a willingness to learn more about the people we support.
