Home Start Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre
The main role of a volunteer is to help the family group sessions run smoothly so that everyone enjoys them and gets the most out of them. This means helping parents/carers and children to feel welcome and at ease, and helping parents/carers to join in play activities with their child. Very importantly, volunteers also offer a listening ear, and show care and understanding in a friendly, non-judgemental and supportive manner. In practical terms, you may be asked to help with the following tasks:
• welcoming parents and children • preparing activities and setting up activities • playing with children • clearing up and tidying away at the end of the session
We also have opportunities for volunteers to prepare a healthy snack for the children. This will include preparation of fruit, a warm snack, drinks and tidying/cleaning after the healthy snack. Volunteers would be required for approximately one hour per session. Opportunities are available in Fleetwood, St Annes and Wesham.
