Disability First CIO Blackpool is an award-winning charity that provides services for people with a range of health conditions and disabilities. Our vision is to enable people from all backgrounds to stay healthy, be safe and to live well in a society where people with long-term health conditions and disabilities are valued as equals. One of our main roles is to help and assist clients with the completion of a full range of welfare benefit forms and also to ensure that we fully support all cases through to the appeals process.
As one of our trustees you will help ensure we have a clear strategy, and that we work towards meeting our goals and vision. Trustees have the ultimate responsibility to manage, govern and control the charity to make decisions about policies, objectives and strategies.
The role will provide strong leadership and direction. You will make balanced and adequately informed decisions relating to the long term and short term aspirations for the charity.
You will be required to attend quarterly meetings and one AGM per year. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated person wanting to make a difference to the lives of people with a range of long-term health conditions and disabilities. Your background will either be within a health or social care setting, professional, academic, legal or that you have a personal experience or disability on various levels. Trustee boards tend to meet in the early evening making this a flexible role which trustees often fit around a full-time role/job - Around 18.30pm for meetings
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Good independent judgement
Ability to think creatively
Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
Personal knowledge of leaning disability through a family member/friend work colleague or professional experience as aleader or manager within a health-care or social care setting would be beneficial but not essential
