Uniformed Instructor

Lytham St Annes & Fylde Sea Cadets

We're looking for new adults to volunteer and join Lytham Sea Cadets!

We're looking for new instructors to join our team, whether you've got previous experience working or volunteering with young people or are just passionate and want to make a difference, we want to hear from you!

You'll deliver lessons, assist with activities and events with young people aged 10-18.

We're an independent charity, and military training or experience isn't needed; we open our doors twice a week to young people in Lytham, St Annes, Fylde and the surrounding areas. Cadets learn new skills, meet new friends and create memories that last a lifetime.

This all helps to give them confidence, whilst they also gain qualifications and experiences that might not otherwise be available to them.

Sea Cadets offers loads of activities on land or on the water, there's sailing, powerboating, rowing, stand up paddleboarding and first aid, leadership, engineering & STEM, catering and lots more!

No experience is necessary and full training is given, we also cover the costs of your DBS so you aren't out of pocket.

What skills do I need?

  • Ability to volunteer with young people aged 10-18
  • Deliver exciting sessions, using pre-planned sessions and tailoring these to your group
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to recognise the needs of each young person

We are very keen to promote flexible volunteering around your commitments! You don't need to attend twice a week, you could attend once a week or once a fortnight, as long as we know what you're committing to. Some training that is provided may be on weekends, during the week, but this happens around the year and there is no rush to complete this straight away. A lot of our training is available online, such as Safeguarding, Data Protection, and your introduction to Sea Cadets - and you can complete this whenever.
