Volunteer Receptionist

Blackpool Salvation Army

As a volunteer receptionist you’ll be the first person to greet visitors and members to The Salvation Army church and community centre. Working alongside staff, church members and other volunteers, you’ll be part of creating a welcoming and hospitable environment. You’ll respond to enquiries by telephone and in person, as well as carry out some basic administrative tasks. The role involves: 

• Welcome visitors to the reception area and register them as required

• Respond to enquiries and

• Answer the telephone and redirect calls to appropriate members of staff or take messages to be passed on

• Provide general administration duties, including photocopying

• Sorting the post and recording relevant post in the post book

• Receive donations from the general public as required

• Implement and communicate relevant security procedures to visitors

• Follow safeguarding and other guidelines

• Cooperate with colleagues and offer help and support

• Share good news stories and feedback ideas

• Communicate your availability with the project coordinator, including lateness and absences


What skills do I need?

• Friendly and welcoming manner

• Good communication skills

• Ability to work as part of a team

• Ability to follow guidelines and direction from team leader

• Calm under pressure

• Willing to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army but respectful of people of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds

Details

Volunteers are required Monday – Friday at the following times: 9am – 3.30pm, 9am – 12 noon, 12 noon – 3.30pm. This takes place at The Salvation Army, Raikes Parade, Blackpool, FY1 4EL. Car parking is available.
