Blackpool Carers Centre
Could you be a positive role model for young people between the ages of 16 and 24?
We are looking for a volunteer who can support the aspirations, understand the challenges and believe they can make a difference for young adults in Blackpool. Our Young Adult Carers (YAC) Group meets on a Tuesday evening between 4.30pm and 6.30pm for time to relax, meet new people and have fun. Our young carers support friends or family members with physical or mental health issues and they really appreciate some time to be themselves. You will need to be creative, a good communicator and able to respond to the individual needs of those who come along. If you have the skills and enthusiasm, we provide training and support to enable you to help others.
What skills do I need?
• A good communicator, outgoing, friendly and proactive character.
• To be comfortable volunteering with young adults.
• To be able to assist in the preparation and delivery of sessions.
• To be able to deliver service and support with passion, quality and respect.
Ideally, we would like you to have some experience of working in group settings but enthusiasm and understanding is key.
